| Your visit is considered a routine eye examination when the main reason is to update your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, as long as you are not having any other medical problems with your eyes. In this case, the exam is covered by your vision plan, not your medical insurance. | If the main reason for your visit is due to medical problems with your eyes such as glaucoma, allergies, cataracts, dry eyes, diabetes, trauma, iritis, floaters, or macular degeneration, then your medical insurance is billed. Medical issues are not covered by most vision plans. | |
